Wisma Tun Sambanthan is a prominent corporate tower located near the heart of Kuala Lumpur. After 25 years of minor renovation projects throughout the building, the Client requested a revamp of their main entrance and lift lobby.
By taking a cue from the auspicious money plant symbolism used throughout Asian cultures, we devised a grand entrance that would be visible from the main road, enticing people to take note and enter. Once we applied the leaf pattern to a standard panel, we were able to replicate it in many forms.
The front entrance contains a simplified version on the ceiling as well as a high contrast image on the walls. The lift lobby takes a subtler route and applies the leaf pattern through several layers of perspex. Even though the Chandelier at the staircase, a gaudy relic of the origins of the building, was maintained due to the Client’s request, we managed to apply the pattern once more to hide it yet still maintain the presence.
